USB Cable
USB Micro USB 2.0 OTG cable - PB491
Micro USB 2.0 OTG cable that lets a phone or tablet act as the USB host — plug flash drives, keyboards, card readers or MIDI gear straight into a Micro USB device.
Overview
The PB491 is an OTG cable, and that word is the entire point of the product. On-The-Go inverts the normal USB relationship: instead of the phone being a peripheral that a computer talks to, the phone becomes the host and drives peripherals itself. The cable makes that switch happen by grounding the ID pin in the Micro USB plug — an ordinary Micro USB cable will not do it, no matter how it is wired.
With the PB491 in place, a Micro USB phone or tablet can read a USB flash drive or card reader, take input from a wired keyboard, mouse or game controller, pull photos straight off a camera, or drive USB MIDI and audio interfaces. For field work, service engineering and anywhere a laptop is not practical, that turns a phone into a functioning workstation.
It is built on USB 2.0 with a black PVC jacket and a one-piece moulded housing, so the connector body has no seam to separate and strain is spread along the jacket rather than concentrated where the cable enters the plug.
Each unit ships with one cable. Length, jacket colour, printed branding and retail or bulk packaging are customisable for OEM/ODM orders.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes the PB491 different from a standard Micro USB cable?
- The PB491 grounds the ID pin in the Micro USB plug, enabling OTG (On-The-Go) mode. This allows a phone or tablet to act as a USB host and drive peripherals like keyboards, mice, flash drives, and cameras—a standard Micro USB cable cannot do this.
- What devices and peripherals are compatible with the PB491?
- The PB491 works with any Micro USB phone or tablet supporting OTG mode. Compatible peripherals include USB flash drives, card readers, keyboards, mice, game controllers, cameras, and USB MIDI/audio interfaces.
- What are the construction details of the PB491?
- The PB491 features USB 2.0 connectivity, black PVC cable jacket, and one-piece molded connector housing with no seams. The molded design distributes strain along the jacket rather than concentrating it at the plug entry point.
- Can the PB491 be customized for OEM/ODM orders?
- Yes. Cable length, jacket color, printed branding, and packaging (retail or bulk) are customizable for OEM/ODM customers. Contact Tonetron for customization details and order requirements.
