What we manufacture

This category covers two connector combinations. USB-A to Lightning, represented by the PF347 and PLT347, is the standard sync-and-charge cable for USB-A wall chargers, car adapters, power banks and older computers. USB-C to Lightning, represented by the PF444, connects Lightning devices to USB-C chargers and computers and is the combination that supports USB Power Delivery fast charging; the PF444 is rated for 30 W PD. Data on every Lightning cable is USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps regardless of the USB plug on the other end.

The three stock models share one construction: a genuine Apple connector module (C89 on the USB-A cables, C94 on the USB-C cable), oxygen-free copper conductors, nickel-plated contacts, aluminum alloy shells and a black polypropylene braided jacket. The PF347 uses 24 AWG power conductors and 30 AWG data conductors. For private-label programs the same connector modules can be built into a smooth TPE jacket instead of braid, in other jacket colors and braid patterns, with a reinforced strain relief, your logo on the shell or jacket, and the length set per order. Retail packaging is produced with your artwork.

What MFi means for a buyer

MFi is Apple's licensing program for accessories that connect to iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is not a general quality grade. For a Lightning cable it requires three things: the Lightning plug must be an Apple-authorized connector module rather than a copy; that module carries an authentication chip which the device checks on every connection; and the finished product must be enrolled and tested under an MFi account before it may carry the Made for iPhone/iPad marking on packaging. Cables that skip any of these steps produce accessory-not-supported warnings after an iOS update and are rejected by retail buyers who audit their suppliers.

Verifying a supplier takes three questions. First, which connector part code is inside the cable: C89 for USB-A to Lightning, C94 for USB-C to Lightning. A quotation that says only MFi without naming the part has not answered. Second, whose MFi account the product is enrolled under, because the licensee is the party that receives the connector allocation and answers to Apple. Apple publishes a licensee search on its own site, and a legitimate supplier will tell you exactly which company name to look up. Third, whether a product plan ID (PPID) exists for the specific model, which is the closest thing MFi has to a number you can check.

Our own position, stated so it does not surprise you later: the cables in this category are built with genuine Apple C89 and C94 connector modules and are MFi-certified at the product level; the factory is not itself an MFi licensee, and certification can be arranged for a project that requires it. Ask for the enrolling account name, the connector part code and the PPID during quotation, and check the account against Apple's licensee database before committing to volume. Use of the Made for iPhone logo on your own packaging is governed by Apple's guidelines and depends on enrollment of your product; no supplier can grant that right by contract.

Jacket, shell and conductor gauge are specified separately from the connector combination. The stock builds use braided polypropylene over an aluminum alloy shell; TPE jackets and other shell finishes are quoted as custom builds.

How to specify for a quote

• Connector combination: USB-A to Lightning (C89) or USB-C to Lightning (C94). If fast charging on current iPhones is required, it must be C94.
• Length in meters or feet, one length per SKU.
• Jacket: braided (stock) or TPE; jacket color; braid pattern if not solid black.
• Shell: aluminum alloy (stock) or another finish; shell color; logo position and content.
• Conductor gauge if you have a target; otherwise the stock 24 AWG power / 30 AWG data build is quoted.
• Bend-life target in cycles if your retail channel specifies one; it drives the strain relief design.
• Packaging: bulk polybag or retail box with your artwork, and whether the Made for iPhone marking is required, since that depends on enrollment.
• Quantity per SKU and annual forecast, and whether you need the enrollment documents (account name, PPID) attached to the quotation.

Terms

Minimum order is 1,000 pieces per SKU. The three stock models ship from inventory; custom builds with a different jacket, color, length, shell or packaging take 30 days. Payment is T/T with 30% deposit and 70% against bill of lading. Quotations are returned within 24 hours of receiving the specification list above. The manufacturer of record is Dongguan Taitron Electronic Limited, brand Tonetron, established in 1984 and now running a 50,000 square meter self-owned factory in Dongguan with 300+ employees, 1,000,000+ cables per month and export to 40+ countries. Quality management is ISO 9001 certified by SGS, the factory is BSCI audited, and materials comply with RoHS and REACH.
