What we manufacture

This category covers the analog and coaxial audio/video cables built on the RCA plug and the 3.5 mm mini jack. The 27 stock models are also starting points for OEM builds with your own length, jacket color, plating and packaging.

RCA configurations. Single-plug coaxial cables for S/PDIF digital audio and subwoofer feeds (HMC263, PB263), 2x RCA stereo pairs and 2x RCA extensions (HMM101, HMC101, PB101, MP101, PB102), 3x RCA composite AV cables with the yellow/red/white color code (HMC231, PB364), and 3x RCA RGB component video cables rated to 720p (HMC247, PB247).

3.5 mm configurations. Straight 3.5 mm-to-3.5 mm AUX leads (HMC105, PB105, MP146), coiled spring versions for car consoles (MP146S, HMM105S), a 90-degree right-angle version (HMM105L), 3.5 mm extension cables (PB106), 3.5 mm-to-2x 3.5 mm splitters (PB107, PB155, MP155, HMM155, HMM155L) and 3.5 mm-to-2x RCA breakouts for connecting phones or laptops to amplifiers (HMM103, HMC103, PB103, MP417). Plugs are wired TRS for stereo; TRRS wiring for headset microphone lines is available on custom orders.

Materials. Contacts are 24K gold plated or nickel plated depending on the series. Conductors are OFC oxygen-free copper on the metal-shell lines; CCA (copper-clad aluminum) can be quoted where the target is a lower-cost bundled accessory. Every RCA cable is shielded against RF and EM interference. Housings run from ABS and molded PVC on the MP and PB series to aluminum shells (HMM) and zinc-alloy shells (HMC). Jackets are PVC, TPE or TPU; TPU is used on the coiled leads because it holds spring memory and stays flexible in cold weather.

Lengths outside these ranges, custom colors and dual-molding are handled as custom orders. Dongguan Taitron Electronic Limited runs a 50,000 square meter factory with more than 300 employees and ships over 1,000,000 cables per month across all categories, so RCA and 3.5 mm volume orders are not capacity-limited.

Quality and testing

The factory is ISO 9001 certified by SGS and audited under BSCI. Materials are controlled to RoHS and REACH, and we are an HDMI Adopter and hold a USB-IF certification on record (Test ID 6801), which reflects the same standards work applied to our audio lines. On the production floor the RCA and 3.5 mm cables go through the following checks:

Contact resistance is measured on plated plugs from each plating lot before assembly and again on finished cables sampled per shipment. Plating is checked for thickness and adhesion on incoming connectors; gold-plated lots are also inspected for porosity. Pull tests are run on the plug-to-cable joint after molding to confirm the strain relief holds under a sustained load without conductor breakage or shell separation. Continuity and short tests run on 100 percent of finished cables, with channel mapping verified on stereo and 3-RCA builds so left/right and Y/Pb/Pr do not swap. Flex and bend tests are done on samples for coiled and right-angle leads, where the jacket takes the most stress. Test reports can be supplied with each production lot.

How to specify for a quote

Quotes are returned within 24 hours when the request includes:

  • Configuration: plug count and type on each end (for example 3.5 mm TRS to 2x RCA, or 3x RCA to 3x RCA)
  • Signal use: analog stereo, composite, component or S/PDIF coaxial, and whether TRRS microphone wiring is needed
  • Conductor: OFC or CCA, and AWG if you have a target
  • Shield: foil, braid or spiral, and whether each RCA line is individually shielded
  • Plating and housing: 24K gold or nickel; ABS, molded PVC, aluminum or zinc-alloy shell; straight, coiled or 90-degree plug
  • Jacket: PVC, TPE or TPU, color, and any printing on the cable or shell
  • Length with tolerance, and quantity per length
  • Packaging: bulk polybag, blister, color box or private-label retail pack, plus any compliance marks required in the destination market

Referencing one of the 27 stock models is the fastest start; we quote the differences from that base.

Terms

MOQ starts at 1,000 pieces per model. Stock items ship from inventory; custom builds take about 30 days after sample approval. Payment is T/T with a 30 percent deposit and the 70 percent balance against the bill of lading, negotiable for repeat programs. Tonetron products are exported to more than 40 countries, and the company has been building cables since 1984, first in Keelung, Taiwan and now in Dongguan.

Frequently asked questions

Do you manufacture RCA and 3.5 mm cables in-house or trade them?

We manufacture them. Cutting, stripping, soldering or crimping, molding and final testing are done in our own 50,000 square meter factory in Dongguan, with more than 300 employees on site. Buying direct means plating, conductor and shell choices can be changed per order rather than picked from a trading catalog, and the test records come from the same floor that built the cable.

What is the practical difference between OFC and CCA conductors for audio cables?

OFC oxygen-free copper is solid copper with lower resistance for a given gauge and is standard on our metal-shell RCA and AUX lines. CCA is aluminum with a thin copper skin: lighter and cheaper, but higher resistance and less tolerant of repeated flexing at the plug. CCA suits short bundled accessories; OFC is the better choice for longer runs, car audio and anything sold on quality.

Gold plated or nickel plated plugs: which should we specify?

Both are conductive enough for line-level audio. Gold plating resists corrosion and keeps contact resistance stable in humid or coastal markets, and it is what buyers expect on hi-fi and component video lines. Nickel is harder, lower cost and fine for coaxial digital audio and budget AV cables. We stock both; state the destination market and price target and we will recommend one.

Can we order a 3.5 mm cable with TRRS wiring or a custom length?

Yes. Stock 3.5 mm leads are wired TRS stereo, and TRRS four-pole wiring for headset microphone or in-line control lines is produced to order. Lengths, jacket color, coiled versus straight cable, right-angle plugs and shell material are all custom options. Custom builds follow the standard 30-day lead time after sample approval, at an MOQ of 1,000 pieces per model.

What documents and tests ship with an RCA cable order?

Every order can include a lot test report covering continuity, channel mapping, contact resistance sampling and pull test results, together with RoHS and REACH material declarations. Our ISO 9001 certificate from SGS and BSCI audit report are available for supplier qualification. If your market requires additional third-party testing, we can arrange it against the production lot and pass through the report.
