What we manufacture

The Type-C line covers every USB data class from 480 Mbps to 120 Gbps, built in a 50,000 square meter factory in Dongguan with more than 300 employees and a combined output above 1,000,000 cables per month. Each of the sixteen standard models below is also the starting point for a customer-branded build.

C-to-C. PF490 is a USB 2.0 cable rated 3 A with 60 W USB PD, braided jacket and aluminum shells. PF487A is the USB 10Gbps model with 100 W PD, DisplayPort Alt Mode video to 4K at 60 Hz and an eMarker. PF587A is the USB4 40Gbps cable at 0.8 m with 100 W PD and DP 1.4 video to 8K at 60 Hz; PLT588 is the 2 m USB4 40Gbps version rated 240 W under USB PD 3.1. PF591A is the USB4 80Gbps cable, running 80 Gbps symmetric or 120/40 Gbps asymmetric, with 240 W PD and DisplayPort video to 16K at 60 Hz.

C-to-A. PB485 and PB489 are USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) cables, the latter wired for OTG host use. PB495, PLT495GR, PLT497ABK and PF496 are USB 2.0 charging cables at 3 A to 5 A, with fast-charge protocol support (QC 3.0, Huawei SCP/FCP, OPPO VOOC) depending on the model. PLT489GR carries USB PD at 100 W over a USB-A to USB-C cable.

Legacy ends. PB480 (Micro-USB 2.0), PB484 (Micro-USB 3.0), PB481 (Mini-USB 2.0) and PB482 (USB-B 2.0) connect USB-C hosts to printers, cameras, drive enclosures and audio interfaces that have not moved to Type-C.

Construction options. PB-series cables use a PVC jacket and molded strain relief. PF and PLT series use a polypropylene or nylon braid over the jacket with aluminum alloy shells; PF587A uses a TPE jacket for flexibility in a short desk cable. Conductors are oxygen-free copper.

Specification ranges

Rated current above 3 A, and any data rate of 5 Gbps or faster, requires an eMarker chip in the plug; the chip is programmed to the cable's own current and speed rating so the host negotiates correctly.

Certification and testing

A USB4 Gen3 Type-C cable from this factory passed USB-IF certification testing in 2022 and is on record under Test ID 6801, issued to Dongguan Taitron Electronic Limited. The certificate is on file and sent with quotations on request. The plant is ISO 9001 certified through SGS and audited under BSCI; materials comply with RoHS and REACH, and the compliance documents accompany every shipment. Every cable in the 5 Gbps and faster classes, and every charging cable rated above 3 A, ships with an eMarker programmed to that cable's rating.

How to specify for a quote

A complete specification lets us return a firm price within 24 hours. Send the following, or name a model above and list only the changes:

  • Data rate: USB 2.0, USB 5Gbps, USB 10Gbps, USB 20Gbps, USB4 40Gbps or USB4 80Gbps. If video matters, state the DisplayPort resolution and refresh rate.
  • Wattage: 60 W, 100 W or 240 W, and whether a specific fast-charge protocol must be supported.
  • Length: in meters, with tolerance if you have one.
  • Connector ends: C-to-C, C-to-A, or C to Micro-USB, Mini-USB or USB-B; straight or right-angle plugs.
  • Jacket and shell: PVC, TPE, polypropylene braid or nylon braid; molded or aluminum alloy shell.
  • Color: jacket, braid and shell colors, Pantone reference if matching a brand.
  • Logo: laser marking or printing on the shell, cable tie or packaging, with artwork files.
  • Packaging: bulk polybag, blister, color box or retail hang card, plus master carton requirements.
  • Quantity: per model and per color, and whether the order will repeat.

Terms

Minimum order is 1,000 pieces per model. Stock models ship from inventory; custom builds with new jackets, colors, lengths or logos are produced in about 30 days after sample approval. Payment is T/T with a 30 percent deposit and 70 percent against the bill of lading. Quantity and terms are negotiable for repeat programs. Tonetron exports to more than 40 countries, and quotes are issued within 24 hours of receiving a specification.

Frequently asked questions

Which of your USB-C cables need an eMarker, and do you program it yourselves?

Any cable rated above 3 A, and any cable at 5 Gbps or faster, needs an eMarker under the USB-IF specification. On this page that covers PF487A, PF587A, PLT588, PF591A, the 5 Gbps C-to-A models and the 5 A charging cables. The chip in each is programmed to that specific cable's current and data rate, so the host negotiates only what the wire can carry.

Is your USB4 cable actually USB-IF certified?

Yes. A USB4 Gen3 Type-C cable passed USB-IF certification testing in 2022 and is on record under Test ID 6801, issued to Dongguan Taitron Electronic Limited. PF587A is the production version of that cable. We send the certificate with the quotation on request. We do not claim Thunderbolt certification; those are separate programs run by a different body.

What is the difference between USB4 80Gbps and the 120 Gbps figure on PF591A?

Both describe the same USB4 v2 cable. In symmetric mode it carries 80 Gbps in each direction. In asymmetric mode the link can be configured as 120 Gbps one way and 40 Gbps the other, which suits display output where most data flows from the host to the monitor. PF591A supports both modes along with 240 W USB PD and DisplayPort video to 16K at 60 Hz.

Why are the 40 Gbps and 80 Gbps cables so short?

Passive cables at 40 Gbps and 80 Gbps are typically about 0.8 m because signal loss rises with length at those frequencies. PF587A is built at that length for desk and dock use. PLT588 is a 2 m USB4 40Gbps cable rated 240 W for laptops charged at a distance. If you need a specific length at a given data rate, state both in the request and we will confirm what can be built.
