The ACE387TWH is the TPE-jacketed model in this Micro USB range. TPE stays supple where PVC stiffens, and it keeps that flexibility in cold weather, so the cable coils small in a bag or pocket and springs back less when plugged into a phone on a bedside table or a car console. On a charging lead — the accessory that gets wound and unwound more than any other in a household — that property is the whole difference.
It is rated for charging at up to 2A, so it supports the faster wall adaptors rather than throttling them to a trickle, and carries USB 2.0 data at up to 480Mbps for file transfer and backup on the same lead.
The housing is moulded in one piece over the connector rather than assembled from a separate shell, which removes a seam that can separate and spreads pull-out strain along the jacket instead of concentrating it where the cable enters the plug — the point where charging cables normally fail.
Conductors are OFC high-purity oxygen-free copper. The jacket is white; the PB487 in the same range is the black PVC equivalent.
