What tests should a cable factory run before shipment?
Continuity and hi-pot for every piece; impedance, attenuation and E-Marker on a lot basis.
Answer: split the tests by whether they are 100% or sample-based — mixing the two is how "all tested" becomes meaningless.
| Test | Coverage | What it catches |
|---|
| Continuity / wiring | 100% | Wrong or open conductor |
| Hi-pot (dielectric) | 100% | Insulation defect |
| Impedance / attenuation | Sample per lot | High-frequency performance |
| E-Marker read-out | Sample per lot | Declared current/speed wrong |
| Visual / dimensional | 100% or AQL | Jacket, print, length |
Ask for the record, and for which of these are 100% versus sample.
