If you're a B2B buyer sourcing HDMI cables, you've probably seen suppliers claim they're an "HDMI certified factory." That phrase is meaningless. HDMI Licensing Administrator doesn't certify factories. It certifies three separate things, and confusing them can cost you time, money, and compliance headaches.
Here's what each term actually means, how to verify it yourself, and exactly what Tonetron (Dongguan Taitron Electronic Limited) holds — and doesn't hold.
What "HDMI Adopter" Actually Means
An HDMI Adopter is a company that has signed the HDMI Adopter Agreement with HDMI Licensing Administrator. This is a company-level license, not a product certification. It gives you the legal right to manufacture, sell, or distribute HDMI products. Without it, you're operating outside the HDMI specification.
How to verify: Go to the official HDMI Adopter directory at https://www.hdmi.org/adopter/adoptersaffiliates. Search "Taitron." The entry reads:

Key point: Being an Adopter doesn't mean every cable we make is "certified." It means we're legally authorized to make HDMI products. The product-level certification comes next.
What ATC Test Confirmation Means
ATC stands for Authorized Test Center. These are independent third-party labs — Allion and Granite River Labs are two of them — that HDMI Licensing Administrator authorizes to test HDMI products. A manufacturer is not an ATC. A manufacturer sends products to an ATC for testing.
When a product passes ATC testing, the manufacturer receives a Test Confirmation document. This is proof that a specific cable model passed the required tests for its HDMI version (e.g., 48Gbps for Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable).
What Tonetron has: We hold ATC test confirmations for our 48Gbps HDMI cables (Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable class). You can see the certificates on our certifications page.
What we don't have: We do not claim Ultra96 HDMI® Cable (96Gbps) certification. Samples have been submitted for testing; results are pending. We will not claim certification until we have the test confirmation in hand. See our Ultra96 status page.
What Ultra High Speed / Premium Cable Certification Means
This is the Cable Certification Program (CCP) — a mandatory, per-model certification for cables sold as Ultra High Speed or Premium. The cable model must pass testing at an ATC under the programme, and the programme participants are listed publicly on hdmi.org.
Tonetron's status: We are not in the Ultra High Speed / Premium cable certification list. We do not claim our cables are "Ultra High Speed certified" or "Premium certified." If a buyer needs that specific certification, we will be transparent about our current status.

Is your company an HDMI Adopter?

Has this specific cable model passed ATC testing?
For our 48Gbps HDMI cables, yes. We hold ATC test confirmations from an authorized test center. You can view the certificates on our credentials page. For our Ultra96 cables, samples are submitted and testing is in progress — we do not claim certification yet.
Is this cable in the Ultra High Speed / Premium certification list?
No. We are not in that list. If you need a cable with that specific certification, we will tell you honestly that we don't have it, rather than claiming something we can't prove.
Why This Matters for Your Sourcing
A supplier who says "we're HDMI certified" without specifying which certification is either confused or hiding something. A supplier who can point you to the public Adopter directory, show you ATC test confirmations, and tell you honestly what they don't have — that's a supplier you can trust.
We don't claim certifications we don't hold. We don't call ourselves an ATC. We don't say "Ultra High Speed certified" when we're not. What we do have is verifiable, and we encourage you to check it yourself.
