Most cable suppliers say they are "certified". Very few publish the certificate number. Without a number, a buyer cannot check the claim, and a claim that cannot be checked is worth nothing in a sourcing decision.
Below is every third-party certification held by Dongguan Taitron Electronic Co., Ltd. (東莞台昶電子, export brand Tonetron), with the identifiers needed to verify it.

How to verify these without asking us
- USB-IF (TID 6801). The USB Implementers Forum publishes an Integrators List at usb.org. Search the TID. The listing shows the certifying company, the marketing name and the part number — they should match the row above exactly.
- HDMI Forum ATC. Each certificate of confirmation carries a certification number and a QR code that resolves to the HDMI Forum record. Ask us for the PDF of any number above and check the QR code yourself rather than trusting a scan we send.
What an ATC certificate does and does not mean
This distinction costs buyers money, so it is worth being precise about it.
An HDMI Forum ATC certificate of confirmation states that a sample of the named parent model completed testing at an HDMI Forum Authorized Test Center against a specific CTS version. It is evidence about that model, tested on that date, to that specification.
It is not:
- a guarantee of quality or interoperability for every unit shipped — the certificate itself says so in its notes;
- transferable to a different construction, gauge or length that was not tested;
- the same thing as the supplier being an Authorized Test Center. We are the Adopter that submits samples; the testing above was performed by Granite River Labs Dongguan, an independent ATC. Any supplier claiming to be its own ATC should be asked to name the accreditation.
The practical consequence for sourcing: ask which part number was certified and to which CTS version. A 2.1a certificate on a 1.8 m cable says nothing about a 5 m cable, and a certificate from 2021 says nothing about a construction change made in 2024.
In-house test capability
External certification is a snapshot. Production quality is decided by what gets tested every day, in-house, before anything is sent to a lab. Our own test room runs, among others:
- EDXRF spectrometer — element analysis for RoHS screening on incoming copper, plating and moulding compound.
- Constant temperature and humidity chamber — accelerated environmental ageing of assembled cables.
- Automatic plug-and-pull tester — connector insertion/withdrawal cycling to specified life counts.
- Cable bending tester — repeated flex at the strain relief, the point where consumer cables most often fail.
- Tensile testing machine — pull-off force on the overmould-to-cable joint.
Each station carries its own posted work instruction, so the procedure does not depend on who is operating it that shift. Buyers running a factory audit are welcome to ask for the instruction sheets and the raw test logs for a given lot.

Ask for the certificate before you ask for the price
