What should a B2B buyer check before choosing a cable manufacturer?

Six items: certification of the exact model, conductor and gauge, shielding, distance limits, traceability, batch consistency.

Answer: six items, and two of them eliminate most of the price gap between quotes.

  1. Certification status of the exact model.
  2. Conductor material and gauge (AWG).
  3. Shielding construction (foil plus braid).
  4. Distance limit at the target bandwidth (copper vs AOC).
  5. Factory traceability (ISO 9001, incoming inspection, lot trace).
  6. Batch-to-batch consistency between sample lot and mass production.

A quote that cannot answer items 1 and 6 in writing is usually cheap because certification and lot testing are missing.
